A young home for senior citizens

Old age is a period in your life when your hunger for love, peace and happiness is far beyond hunger for food, physical comforts and materialistic pleasures. Tara was built by the Freemasons not just to house senior citizens, but to bring a little sunshine into the lives of those who have been plunged into a world of darkness.

'Men grow old, pearls grow yellow, there is no cure for it' goes a Chinese proverb. But with a firm belief that even yellow pearls can shine better when woven together and worn with love, Freemasons of India relentlessly worked for three years, literally building this edifice of love and harmony, brick by brick.

Today, Tara stands as a superstructure not just by the external appearance, but by its internal beauty. Thirty of them live the second half of their lives at Tara, as a family, and emotionally no different from the earlier part of their lives - or in some cases even better.

About Us

The making of the Star

When the world's oldest fraternity of men embarked on this noble project of a home, for the ages, Tara Rau, a noble soul spontaneously donated the land and thus initiated the process of transforming the dreams of the Freemasons into reality. Working hard, Freemasons went about raising funds from friends, corporates, other service organisations and even their own pockets. On the 13th of October 2006, Tara was inaugurated.

The infrastructure of Tara is what every home has plus more. Well-appointed rooms to house two, attached bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with staff to provide healthy and homely food, a dining area, recreation room, meditation space and open terrace ensure that the residents feel completely at home.

Vocational Training

Bangalore Freemasons' Society also has a vocational training centre housed at the Tara premises.

For the past ten years, we conduct a six to eight month course on tailoring and hand embroidery yearly. Hundreds of underprivileged young women are benefitted from these classes, and become self sufficient and confident.
